Guoman Interviews Sarah from moloh....

'Just as London Fashion week drew to a close, London Fashion Weekend began. From February 20-23 Somerset House throws open its doors to the public for four days of trend talks, designer previews and a bevy of fashion and beauty shopping opportunities.

Part of the joy of LFW is finding that one-off designer buy or spotting the next big trend for AW14. Followers of fashion in London for the event staying at The Grosvenor Hotel are just a 5 minute car or taxi ride from Somerset House and just around the corner from British fashion boutique moloh.

We asked Sarah from moloh in Pimlico for some insider advice on fashion fads and fancies for 2014.

What do you predict will be the biggest trends for 2014?
“Preppy shirts, lots of prints and still leaning towards the more sporty look!”
The Luxe Sports trend warmed up pre London Olympics, hit the track in SS 2013 and it looks like it’s still running in 2014.
Watch out for: Stella McCartney. Not content with having designed the British Olympic team kit in 2012 she has continued her collaboration with Adidas to create a whole new range of fashionable sports gear for 2014.

What trends from 2013 do readers need to ditch in 2014?
“The punk movement that slightly crept in! Also the clear plastic look that we saw a bit of!”
AW 2013 saw Punk coming back with a vengeance, it started with a sprinkling of studs and the odd splash of ripped tartan and ended in patent leather shoes. Thankfully it hasn’t surfaced again for SS 2014, so far so good.

What is the best style advice you have been given?
“Keep it simple. Be true to yourself. And most importantly enjoy wearing your clothes! Have fun!”

Which up-and-coming designers should we be watching in 2014?
“Blake London – the best knitwear! And Steven Alan, I love his collection!”
Alice Ashby’s Blake LDN creates simple, ethical high quality knitwear classics with a modern edge. Team with contrasting fabrics like silk and lace for a perfect fashion statement that will take you from the cold of winter through the wind and rain of spring with ease.
Steven Alan is another designer who has taken a classic, in this case, the sports shirt, and turned it into something original, bordering on the sartorial even, with his reverse seam shirt.

Which accessories should we all invest in this year?
“A statement necklace for sure! It’s a must have. It can be worn over a striped tee, woolly jumper, black dress… anything and everything. It will really jazz up a look!”

Ready-to-wear or couture?
“Ready-to-wear it’s far more wearable!”

Who is your 2014 style icon?
“Doina Ciobanu from The Golden Diamonds.  She has our moloh Tux Dress! She has such great style, we love her!”

Moldovan fashion blogger Doina Ciobanu uses her blog The Golden Diamonds to showcase  her colourful, intriguing outfits. Mixing high street staples with aspirational pieces, her looks have been featured in Vogue, Elle and Grazia.
