moloh and Style Card

We are very pleased to announce that we are working together with Kinvara Balfour's Style Card.

StyleCard is a new venture from a supercool collective of in-the-know influencers who bring you an abundance of hip and happening stuff in two simple ways:

1) In the form of free daily editorial content which features the latest - and coolest - launches, hangouts and happenings around the country (and sometimes, the world).

2) Via exclusive loyalty rewards with a variety of brands and retailers all over the country, offering you delightful deals and super savings on everything from fashion and beauty to food and culture.

28th April, 2014.

Fashion label moloh specialises in beautiful British tailoring. Favoured by the Duchess of Cambridge (a loyal, not to mention royal, customer) as well as actresses Honeysuckle Weeks and Emerald Fennell, and TV presenter Zara Martin, moloh uses a variety of original fabrics - colourful tartans, interesting textures, luxurious flannels, supersoft leathers and suedes – for traditional, fashionable pieces that last. The clothes – designed and made in limited runs in Great Britain – are perfect for country casual and city chic. Choose from well-cut jackets, coats and waistcoats alongside dresses, skirts and shirts. All serve as well for special occasions (parties, weddings, a day at the racecourse) as they do for every day. Boots and shoes complete the look: the moloh brogue is a bestseller. In May, moloh launches the limited edition ‘Chelsea Tailcoat’ to co-inside with London’s famous Chelsea Flower Show; 30% of sales of each will go to The Chelsea Pensioners Appeal. At moloh, StyleCard members get a beautiful gift with every purchase made online and in store (moloh has two boutiques in UK; one in London’s Pimlico, the other in Tetbury, Gloucestershire). The gift: a beautiful leather pouch which can be used as a wallet, clutch bag, purse or (sun)glasses case. As British fashion goes, these pieces are a cut above the rest.

Guoman Interviews Sarah from moloh....

'Just as London Fashion week drew to a close, London Fashion Weekend began. From February 20-23 Somerset House throws open its doors to the public for four days of trend talks, designer previews and a bevy of fashion and beauty shopping opportunities.

Part of the joy of LFW is finding that one-off designer buy or spotting the next big trend for AW14. Followers of fashion in London for the event staying at The Grosvenor Hotel are just a 5 minute car or taxi ride from Somerset House and just around the corner from British fashion boutique moloh.

We asked Sarah from moloh in Pimlico for some insider advice on fashion fads and fancies for 2014.

What do you predict will be the biggest trends for 2014?
“Preppy shirts, lots of prints and still leaning towards the more sporty look!”
The Luxe Sports trend warmed up pre London Olympics, hit the track in SS 2013 and it looks like it’s still running in 2014.
Watch out for: Stella McCartney. Not content with having designed the British Olympic team kit in 2012 she has continued her collaboration with Adidas to create a whole new range of fashionable sports gear for 2014.

What trends from 2013 do readers need to ditch in 2014?
“The punk movement that slightly crept in! Also the clear plastic look that we saw a bit of!”
AW 2013 saw Punk coming back with a vengeance, it started with a sprinkling of studs and the odd splash of ripped tartan and ended in patent leather shoes. Thankfully it hasn’t surfaced again for SS 2014, so far so good.

What is the best style advice you have been given?
“Keep it simple. Be true to yourself. And most importantly enjoy wearing your clothes! Have fun!”

Which up-and-coming designers should we be watching in 2014?
“Blake London – the best knitwear! And Steven Alan, I love his collection!”
Alice Ashby’s Blake LDN creates simple, ethical high quality knitwear classics with a modern edge. Team with contrasting fabrics like silk and lace for a perfect fashion statement that will take you from the cold of winter through the wind and rain of spring with ease.
Steven Alan is another designer who has taken a classic, in this case, the sports shirt, and turned it into something original, bordering on the sartorial even, with his reverse seam shirt.

Which accessories should we all invest in this year?
“A statement necklace for sure! It’s a must have. It can be worn over a striped tee, woolly jumper, black dress… anything and everything. It will really jazz up a look!”

Ready-to-wear or couture?
“Ready-to-wear it’s far more wearable!”

Who is your 2014 style icon?
“Doina Ciobanu from The Golden Diamonds.  She has our moloh Tux Dress! She has such great style, we love her!”

Moldovan fashion blogger Doina Ciobanu uses her blog The Golden Diamonds to showcase  her colourful, intriguing outfits. Mixing high street staples with aspirational pieces, her looks have been featured in Vogue, Elle and Grazia.

LE STYLE ANGLAIS

We English (and by that I really mean us Brits) are known for a few things: incessantly talking about the weather, how else could one possibly pass the time of day with a stranger? Dithery flustered stammering at awkward social events (none of that confident Californian ease for us) and quietly judging a person for using the words 'toilet'  'settee' and 'living room' - although 'lounge' is even worse in my book.  Frankly, the war might be over but it's a social minefield out there. One wrong step and you will be stuck in No Man's Land.
There is one other thing for which we are known which Vogue bizarrely insists on wrapping in French vowels, 'le style anglais' but  which I prefer to think of as 'the latter day Bloomsbury Bluestocking', an image that quietly whispers 'intellectual insouciance' but is quite happy to shout if no one is listening.
The woman who wears this look knows her 'Woolf' from her 'Pound' and is as comfortable striding across our green and brown mottled land as heading 'up to town'. Think Mitford sisters and Land Girls with their buff coloured library tickets tucked  into their inside pockets.
It is not a look for all, in fact, one could say it is more  of a vocation than a trend, as a woman who falls into its tweedy embrace at 20 will remain earthed in the soft folds of its muted colour pallet until she reigns as a grand dame.

If you feel the velvety embrace of the style of this sceptred isle, then may I direct you to Moloh, who are based in Gloucestershire.
Caroline Smiley's designs are just at home on the streets of Notting Hill or Edinburgh as in they would be in the well thumbed  pages of Evelyn Waugh.

Those who embody the style & a little Moloh...

Comfortable winter wear from moloh, Esk and Rae Feather

Easy classics for cosying up with a box set or country weekends

JANUARY 03 2014
LUCIA VAN DER POST
I never think January is quite the bleakest month. There’s something brilliantly British about embracing the great outdoors and then cosying up with a thrilling box set. As for the best props for these wintry pleasures, several British companies are doing their best to provide them, for indoors and out. Take Rae Feather: she launched her online company last autumn with the notion of offering easy classics, or what she calls “keepers”, that you reach for on days when you don’t need to dress up. Everything is made in the finest cashmere, wool, cotton or silk and comes in black, navy or just the right shade of grey or oatmeal. Among the bestsellers is the capacious, pure wool rollneck cable-knit poncho (£150, second picture), perfect for draughty country houses, and a long-line cardigan with pockets (£160, third picture). There are also three sorts of trouser: the Palazzo in soft jersey; the Easy Pleat Front, with a tapered leg and comfortable elasticated flat waistband that is great for travelling; and a pair with cuffs at the ankles (all £65), which look good tucked into the Daisy wedge ankle boots (£250, by The Jacksons of Notting Hill, third picture).
Then there’s Moloh, which has a great selection of pieces for weekends in the country. Until now it’s been something of a cult label in the smart Cotswolds environs of Tetbury (where its first shop opened), but this year the sorts of classics it provides – gorgeous tweed jackets, coats and knits, often with a slight bohemian touch – are in tune with the mood of fashion (Kate Middleton being photographed in its tartan Workers coat didn’t do its reputation any harm). Everything it sells is made in short runs in British factories from British fabrics. The Harris tweed Dodger jacket (£565) looks great glammed up with a raccoon collar (£295, both in first picture), while its quirkier takes on classics such as the gold-button Military cream jacket (£495) or the Union Frock jacket in a patchwork of tweeds with blue tab fasteners (£745) are popular with the young fashionable Gloucestershire set. As for knits, its cream poncho with a grey Fair Isle pattern (£215) is perfect fireside-wear.
For more real Scottish knitwear there’s Annan-based Esk. Nothing could be cosier that its 100 per cent cashmere asymmetrical cowl-necked Isla sweater (£425). Team it with leggings and curl up with a book. It also does beanies (£65), scarves (£195) and waistcoats (£225).
